CAESAR LIVE N LOUD: "Cruel" Review

New York-based singer and songwriter Jaime Deraz teams up once again with Bad Boyfriend to deliver a high-energy piece of electro-pop music titled Cruel, out now via faded BLUE LLC.

I am a fan of Jaime Deraz's smooth, sultry tone and how her vocal delivery oozes confidence, with slight touches of sensuality, that I find incredible captivating. Straying from their typical slap house style, they take a turn into the realm of melodic house, and create a dark, revenge seeking atmosphere that is sure to be loved by anyone who has been mistreated. Jaime takes on the persona of a woman scorned, who points the finger at the heartbreaker, deriding his holding on to pieces of her after letting her go.

This relatable message is wrapped around a polished electronic production that pairs Bad Boyfriend's powerful bassline and hauntingly droning synth work with Jaime's lush vocals. I am particularly fond of the groovy percussion, playful drop chop, infectious chorus and how expansive the synth work is, instantly creating an overall warm, feel-good atmosphere.
